The
Stevie Wonder’s 9th Annual House Full of Toys Benefit
Concert was THE concert to end all concerts last year in LA,
as mega super stars flew in like angels from far and wide
descending on to the LA Forum during this holiday season to
donate their time and goodwill for a noble cause, to provide
children with a Merry Christmas. But it was so much more.
From the first performer, young harmonica player and singer
L.D. Miller, reminiscent of little Stevie back in the days
of “Finger Tips” to the indomitable incomparable
Stevie Wonder himself, the passion, commitment and spirit
of a divine power was prevalent in the house.
As
an audience participant, I couldn’t’ help feel
the love under heavenly wings which appropriately served as
a backdrop dressing to the stage. Applause rained in all night
into the wee hours of the morning from the crowd and from
unseen celestial realms.
The bill was star studded: Steve Harvey, Stevie Wonder, Jamie
Foxx, Alicia Keys, Raul Midon, Divine Hands, L.D. Miller,
Jonathan Butler, Ricky Minor Band, Kanye West, Salli Richardson
with her baby in tow. India Arie, Ziggy Marley, George Duke,
Joss Stone, Angela Winbush, Doug E. Fresh, Steven Segal, Karen
Clark-Sheard, Kierra “Kiki” Sheard, Rodney Perry,
Paul Jackson Jr., Apollo hostess Kiki Shepperd, Debbie Allen,
special audience guest Minister Louis Farrakhan who briefly
addressed the crowd with a message of peace, and the list
goes on!
Only
Steveland could put on such a wondrous event. If you missed
it last year, better catch it this year; you'll be touched
by angels.
