LUENELL
Kleopatra Girl’s Ringside Report – by Eugenia Wright

Inside Luenell’s wild n’ fiery birthday roast. “It was a scorcher”

Do you remember when you were a kid and your parents took you to the circus and when you got there you saw things you never saw before. It was a good time. ‘Member? You saw marvels that would make you gasp. Such was the case at Luenell’s birthday roast at Miyagi’s in West Hollywood. Well, it was my first outing since my leg injury and not wanting to drive, I called up LA’s favorite limo service Norman Lewis Limousines and requested a town car. To my surprise, Mr. Lewis graaaaciously sent a beautiful black limo stretch at the town car discount and so I hobbled in with my cane (not yet pimped out) wearing a short, short black dress. I remembered, saying to myself be careful getting out, I don’t want a Britney Spears experience. .

Ooolala rollin’ phat to Luenell’s birthday bash! I heard the party was going to be scandalous; and that was an understatement. The poor girl got a roasting like a paddle smacking on the behind. A whoopin to show you what fer. Fellow comedians Melanie Comarcho, Reynaldo Rey and D. Militant and others laid it on like dragons spittin’ fire on a yearling.

Luenell was so cute sitting at a small table because the place was so packed (about 400 peeps). It was a find you a seat if you can and good luck to ya. Back to the humor, oh my god; I can’t even repeat what some of the roasters said. Were they trying to ruin her career???? Wow, what wild n’ crazy jokes or… maybe truth, no way??? You could not stop laughing. The comedy was sensational…it was a gas and that should give you a clue about what they said about diva Luenell, who just had to grin and bear it.

While the comedians were roasting, Luenell was toasting, becoming impervious to any emotional pain from the smackin’. She had her crew, publicist, photographer, manager Papa Lee, lover, DeMarco Allen, make-up person Rachel and best friend, Tosh, all there to wipe the sweat from her brow if need be. She had more entourage than Diddy to help her keep “the pretty.” Borat: The Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan must really have made a difference in her life...not! In fact Mr. Borat, a certain…Sacha sent Luenell a sweet little indulgent gift to one of her favorite spa places—Burke Williams. She loves beauty treatments. All gifts were placed on a table in the red gifting lounge including the packs of Hunid Rack drinks. Yes, she had a gifting suite, and baby, the invitation I received said “Luenell loves presents.” I made sure I gave her one—Estee Lauder’s “Beautiful Love.”

As the night progressed it was entertainment after entertainment. Lady Gigi belted out the blues, Guadalupe Brazilian dancers shook their butts off and left feathers on the floor. R&B Singer Norwood was scheduled to sing Happy B, but he left early and Ollie Woodson from the Temptations stepped in. The not to be missed showstopper that I saw was Scorpio, an incredible Michael Jackson look-a- like that dances like the gloved one. He made everyone holla and scream that if you took a shot from the stage facing the audience you could see hundreds of uvulas vibrating in the breeze to “Heart Break Hotel.”

Luenell at that point got up on stage and just did her let it all out sexy dance with Scorpio moving on over to get giggy with host William Hanford Lee Jr. who was situated in a corner of the stage clapping and bobbing his head. I got so excited I took out my little hot shot camera even though I don’t know how to work it. After Scorpio, newcomer R&B singer Breanna took the mike and belted out a tune like Mariah Carey with William Hanford Lee Jr. Late, late in the evening or early, early in the morning, I glanced over at Luenell who I could see continued to toast and toast and toast some more. I could write a book on her birthday party. From red carpet to finish it was a blast. Happy birthday Lu may you have many more.

Celebrities that attended included: Kelita Smith, Ken Davitian (Azamat in Borat), Larry Kennar (Exec. Producer for The “L” Word), Celebrity Fitness Trainer and Executive Chef Sam Bell, R&B Singer Norwood, Melanie Comarcho, Red Grant, Annie McKnight, Sweet Mama Sweet, Minnie Foxx, Jeffrey Henderson, Earthquake, Lisa Rine, Multi-fitness title holder Mike Sable, Vincent De Paul (Bobby, Dream Girls), Actress, Bianca Smith, Actress Maggie Wagner, Time White, Comedienne Sunda Croonquist, Roger E. Mosley, Kwame Patterson (The Wire), Filmmaker Jerri Jones, Judge Larry Elder, Linda Hopkins, Brazilian bombshell Guadalupe, English Gal Dennica Abdo and many others.
