THE
NEXT BIG THING:
Thalisha
Having
already performed for hundreds in Europe and Japan, 17-year-old
R&B/Pop sensation Thalisha is making the world her stage.
With her combination of beautiful looks and powerful voice,
this New York native is electrifying audiences worldwide with
her amazing live performances. A multi-faceted artist with
the ability to excel at singing, dancing, acting and modeling,
Thalisha’s name is “buzzing” throughout
the industry.
Born and raised in the Washington Heights section of New York
City, Thalisha is bringing a new flavor to the R&B/Pop
world. “I’m 100% Dominicana!” Thalisha is
a member of the fastest growing minority group in NYC, currently
accounting for nearly 10% of the city’s population.
“My ultimate goal is to do for the Dominican community
what Jennifer Lopez did for the Puerto Ricans.” With
a five-octave range, Thalisha has the vocal ability to change
the way the industry looks at Latin singers. “For so
long, Latin women have not been truly respected as vocalists
in the music industry, I will change that perception.”
Thalisha is already well on her way to accomplishing just
that. Supported by Ecko Red Clothing™, Thalisha has
twice been nominated for the Underground Music Awards Best
R&B Female, winning the award in 2003. She was also the
winner of the “Showtime Teenz” segment of the
nationally televised “Showtime in Harlem” show
in 2002.
Thalisha’s stage presence is beyond her years of experience.
During her live performance there is never a dull moment,
every minute is entertaining. Whether she is sending chills
up your spine with a rousing a capella, soothing your soul
with her mid-tempos and ballads or having you dance to one
of her up-tempo smashes, Thalisha is a sure bet to move the
crowd. “There’s nothing that I enjoy more than
performing on stage.” Thalisha has performed alongside
celebrities such as Nina Sky (Universal), 3LW (Sony Urban),
Angie Martinez (Hot 97), La La (MTV) and Cherry Martinez (POWER
105.1). She has also graced the stage with legendary singers
Stephanie Mills, Anne Nesby and Ce Ce Penniston. Television
has even caught on to the Thalisha “buzz” as she
has been featured on UPN Channel 9 News and performed twice
on the very popular hit Mun2 (Telemundo) television show “The
Roof,” which has a viewership of over 14 million worldwide.
Thalisha also co-hosted a Bronx TV talk show called “Teen
Vision.”
As a mezzo-soprano, Thalisha has been blessed with strong
vocal abilities. Her voice is often compared to the likes
of singers like Deborah Cox and Tamia. However, Thalisha brings
an urban edge to her powerful angelic voice. Her “around
the way girl” charisma and commercial sound makes her
an instant “crossover” artist. Thalisha is the
kind of artist that you will hear across the dial from Urban
to Rhymthic to Pop stations nationwide. A young writer herself,
Thalisha has teamed with a group of talented songwriters and
producers to define the sound on her first album. Thalisha
features producers Jayd of “Mystery Men Entertainment”
(Missy, Pink, New Edition) and Chicago based production company
Insomniax (3LW) and songs written by Makeba “Wonder
Girl” Riddick (J-Lo, B2K, 3LW) and Tyè of TyèCares
Music (Coko, Koran). Recording engineer Troy Hightower of
“Hightower Productions” (Ginuwine, Janet Jackson)
makes sure Thalisha’s sound is cutting edge. A couple
of highlights to look out for on Thalisha’s album is
the radio friendly “What Am I To Do?” featuring
Supa Blanco of Sqad-Up (SRC/Universal), club banger “OH!”
featuring Adassa (Universal Music Latino) and a heartfelt
ballad co-written by Thalisha called “Tug-O-War.”
Thalisha has an undying passion and commitment to be the very
best. She spends countless hours each week receiving vocal
training from renowned vocal coach Craig Derry and in the
dance studio working on her routine for her live performances.
“I’m determined, focused and ready for anything
that comes my way.” With this attitude and her world
class marketability and first rate talent, Thalisha is on
her way to super stardom!
