When Singer/Songwriter DVYNE walks into a room everyone takes notice. She has a captivating presence and she is someone you won’t easily forget. Her skin is a  whipped rich mocha-chocolate almond and her physique is in perfect harmony with her alluring air. It’s because of these very exotic qualities that she has become a highly sought after model by lingerie lines such as Victoria Secrets and Fredericks of Hollywood. And, just when you think it can’t get any better than that--wait…
There is the voice to match, a sultry, seductive R&B/POP/JAZZ sound transcending music genres, that echoes from her spirit, through lips that are so luscious they would be the envy of Angelina Jolie.
Some have described her vocal instrument as a “pillow talk” kittenish sound en par with the likes of Janet Jackson and Beyonce. However DVYNE is on a pedestal all of her very own. At only 23 years old, DVYNE has a sophisticated appeal. She is the epitome of class and style reminiscent of the 30’s glamour queens such as Lena Horne and Jean Harlow. Like a true “Goddess” she possesses all the elements to make it BIG in the entertainment industry.
Make no mistake, however, DVYNE is all feline power, there’s no little pussycat doll push over attitude in her orb. Instead, there exists a sharp business acumen matching wits with art. She knows what she wants and goes after it with focus and determination.
DVYNE’s has brains and beauty and her entrepreneurial skills are evident in her newest business venture, a cosmetic line bearing her name. She is a self taught herbologist and chemist and has created a perfectly blended line of cosmetics infused with the latest in cosmeceutical technology suitable for both sexes which are now available on line www.sheisdvyne.com soon to reach department retail in 2006.
In her home town of Oakland, she has guest appeared on “Beauty Beat” for Soul Beat TV and hosted “Nite Cap” a popular television show also in the Bay area. DVYNE has danced in several music videos including Allie Baba’s (cousin to Raphael Saadiq) and Suga T.
DVYNE’s role model has been none other than the first woman who ever saw her… her mom, Barbara Whitfeld, who was a jazz and gospel singer. At the age of eleven while growing up in the Oakland area DVYNE developed her instrument by singing in Church. Her house was always full of song and DVYNE confesses that sometimes when her feelings were down, she would write poems and turn them into songs.
The product of mixed heritage (Creole), DVYNE assimilates well with others and can relate to all ethnicities.
DVYNE is a fresh face. At this point in her life, she is ready to move forward with her music, which is her first love. She says she has been preparing for the long haul ahead by keeping fit with her trainer, working with her vocal coach, dancing and making sure the whole package is tight.
Her new single entitled “Talk To Me” has currently been re-mastered and set for release in the Fall of 2005. DVYNE is a hot commodity among some of the industry’s premiere producers who upon numerous occasions have requested her to collaborate on their projects, but right now she is focusing on her own songs. DVYNE confesses that she does not have a problem writing songs for other artists, but sees that as an adventure “down the road.”
She wants fans to know that her music comes from the heart. The lyrics were penned from situations she had to overcome and are rooted in the deep earth of her past. She hopes young people like her and the general public will be able to relate to them because they are organic in nature.
The seed that is DVYNE is ready to bloom on to the music scene. The reason for her success on all levels, business and artistic? Some say coincidence, we’re sure she would just say
“DVYNE intervention.”
DVYNE is also grateful to her producer/husband Emmanuel Chioma for being so supportive and understanding in an industry that makes great demands on her time.
