SNOOP DOGG TO STAR
IN MOVIE ON REAL-IFE EXPERIENCE AS HIS SON'S FOOTBALL COACH
Rapper Snoop Dogg used his childhood experiences growing up
in Long Beach, California, to craft gangsta rap hits that
propelled him to stardom. Now the father of three is using
his real-life experience as a coach of his son's football
team to a league championship as the basis of a new movie.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Snoop Dogg will star in
and executive produce a feature based on coaching his son's
youth football team.
The film, tentatively titled Coach Snoop, was picked up by
20th Century Fox, who beat out Sony and Paramount by agreeing
to pay Snoop Dogg $1 million for the project.
The rapper said, "This film is about how I learned to
be a good father through coaching. It's also about life lessons
learned on and off the field. But most importantly, during
the football season, if you aren't wearing a helmet, get the
f*** away from me. Football first; everything else second."
In March, Snoop Dogg was named Coach of the Year by the Ricky
Williams Foundation and Pop Warner Little Scholars for his
work as the head coach of the Snoop Dogg All Stars, a Junior
All-American team of 7-to-10-year-olds.
In January, Snoop Dogg took his team on a once-in-a-lifetime
road trip to Super Bowl XXXVII in Houston, Texas. The team,
accompanied by the rapper and his wife, traveled cross country
on a tour bus to play against Ricky Williams and his Texas
Pride team on January 31st, the day before the Super Bowl.
The All Stars beat the Texas Pride 24-16.
Coach Snoop will be penned by Mark Gibson and Philip Halprin,
whose previous credits include Snow Dogs, and The Wild.
